Logging Accessories & Deployment Aids

Logging — Noise and temperature, Casing Vibration Tool, CHAT, cement bond and radial bond tools, pulsed neutron, production logging, casing and tubing inspection, correlation (GR / CCL), and the rest of the cased-hole logging suite.

Perforating — The full range of electric-line perforating, not one charge or one gun style. Completion and recompletion, through-tubing, abandonment and remedial access, plug-and-perf, oriented and select-fire, and more. Conveyance is chosen so the guns reach planned depth.

Mechanical services — Wireline-set plugs (retrievable, drillable, permanent), cement retainers, packers, punches, cutters, dump bailer and setting tools, the other mechanical work that sits on the same cable. Same reach problem. Same modeled deployment.

In-House Deployment Modeling
Safe, efficient wireline work in deviated and horizontal wells start on paper. Reliance models pump-down and tractor conveyance before we commit a string, a partner, or a program.
Pump-down: Fluid, rate, friction, tool OD and length, restrictions, and expected surface pressure, so the wireline tool reaches depth without issue.
Tractor: Inclination, dogleg, ID changes, wireline tractor tool weight, and cable tension to get the string to depth.
Wellbore design: Patches, nipples, scale, tight spots, H₂S/CO₂, temperature and pressure, flowing versus static.
Recommended method: Gravity and weight, electric-line rollers, pumpdown, tractor partner, or coil tubing / e-coil services. We match the conveyance to what the model supports, we do not stretch a method past that.
The point is a first-time-right descent: tool, gun, or mechanical assembly on depth, at a usable speed.
Choosing Conveyance
Method
Best fit
What it does
Gravity + weight bars
Vertical to moderate deviation; clean path
Wireline sinker bars keep the string in tension, so the wireline tool falls and logs or sets at required speed and depth
E-line roller
Highly deviated wells where rolling friction reaches target depth
Centralizes the string onto rollers so sliding drag becomes rolling drag on electric line
Pumpdown
Horizontal wells with a circulating path and a string that can be pumped to depth
Fluid moves the tool, guns, or plug to the desired depth, modeled rate and pressure
Wireline tractor (partner)
Horizontal laterals and complex completions where passive methods will not reach target depth
Powered e-line conveyance to depth, then the wireline log, perforating guns, or mechanical work
Coil and e-coil (partners)
Circulation, cleanout, or wireline-impractical geometry
Heavier footprint when the wellbore itself has to be worked, not just conveyed
E-Line Roller
Not every highly deviated well needs a wireline tractor or coil. Many wells sit where gravity is no longer enough and powered conveyance is more than the job requires. That is e-line roller.
A roller stem is a wired section of the wireline tool string that lifts and centralizes the body weight onto roller axles so the string rolls along the pipe wall instead of sliding.
We specify roller stems by function and well condition, the same class of accessory as weight bars, knuckles, and centralizers.

Wireline Tractors
A wireline tractor is an electro-hydraulic or electro-mechanical drive run on electric line. Power, command, and communication stay on the same wireline cable. The tractor takes logging, perforating, and mechanical strings into highly deviated and horizontal wells that gravity and pumpdown cannot reach. Once the string is on depth, the work is done.
Coil and E-Coil
Some wells are not a wireline-reach problem. They need circulation, a cleanout, or a geometry that will not take a tractor or a pumped string. We work with coil tubing and e-coil partners so the producer is not stitching vendors together on the lease.
Coil tubing: Memory wireline logging or mechanical perforating.
E-coil Logging: When the intervention still wants SRO (Surface Read out) electric-line tools, telemetry, select-fire, live wireline logs on a coil string that can push and circulate.

Unwavering Focus on Compliance
With a dedicated 24/7 team and a regional fleet of conventional, rigless mast, combination, and heli-portable units, Reliance deploys electric line as the primary cable for roller-stem, pumpdown, and tractor work, slickline and fiber optics. Conveyance is chosen so logging, perforating, and mechanical work stay regulator-ready under Alberta Directive 020 and Directive 080, ID 2003-01 (SCVF/GM), Saskatchewan PNG015, and BC well decommissioning guidelines. First-pass results support LCA, LLR, and BC liability ratings instead of a second mobilization, giving you cleaner files, faster site releases, and the freedom to focus on active operations.
